Frequently Asked Questions - Logistical Questions

Will anyone meet me at the airport?
Archipelago can assist with all necessary dometic vehicle transfers to and from hotels close to Denpasar airport. When arranged in advance, Archieplago will have a driver waiting to meet any diver from their international flight, ready to transfer them direct to the hotel. For a small additional fee, Archipelago Resorts & Fleet can give you a VIP treatment service on arrival; this involves taking care of your visa on arrival, without any long queues.

What money should I bring?
Indonesia has ATM machines in all major cities. If divers want to bring cash it is recommended to either bring Indonesian Rupiah or foreign currency which can be changed at one of the many currency exchange counters. It is recommended that currency exchange is conducted in Bali or in Jakarta, as in more remote locations the exchange rate is generally lower. For divers bringing USD remember to bring high value bank notes - $100 - which will give a better exchange rate. It is important not to bring USD notes older than 2000. Traveller’s checques are accepted in some places, but are generally not commonly used in Indonesia.

What tax must I pay?
Divers will need $25 USD when you are applying for the Visa on Arrival at the immigration department in Denpasar International Airport. When leaving Indonesia an airport tax of 150,000 Rp will be requested in cash.

Archipelago FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions - Dive Related Questions

What thickness Wetsuit will I need?
Water temperature in Indonesian waters can be anywhere between 22 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. This may sound warm but long dives can drop your body core temperature. Depending on your ability to resist cold water we either recommend a 3mm or a 5mm wetsuit.

Shall I bring a dive hood?
In Raja Ampat and in Banda, temperatures rarely get cold enough that hoods are required, however in Komodo, particularly the southerly region in Horseshoe Bay, the temperatures can get chilly. So a hood may in fact be a wise investment. It depends on the individual divers tollerance to cold.

Is there NITROX aboard the AAII?
The membrane system on the Archipelago Adventurer II enables Archipelago divers to enjoy COMPLIMENTARY NITROX fills aboard all cruises in Indonesia.
